چکیده

Abstract Background Recently, a standardized uptake value (SUV) has been used to evaluate bone single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). The aim of this study was investigate quantitative SPECT imaging uninfected nonunion compare hypertrophic and non-hypertrophic using volume-based parameters. Methods We evaluated 23 patients with who underwent acquisition 3 h after an injection 99m Tc-hydroxymethylene diphosphonate or Tc-methylene from April 2014 November 2019. reconstructed the acquired data performed voxel-based analysis GI-BONE software. Quantitative parameters, maximum SUV (SUV max ), peak mean ) in high low areas were compared between nonunion. contralateral limb as control, ratios parameters calculated. Results values for (high area/low area, respectively), control ratio (12.13 ± 4.95/6.44 4.71), (11.65 4.58/6.45 4.64), (11.94 5.03/6.28 4.95) higher than those (7.82 4.76/3.41 2.09 ( p = 0.065/0.12), 7.56 4.51/3.61 2.23 0.065/0.22), 7.59 5.18/3.05 1.91 0.076/0.23)). Conclusions , obtained images can quantitatively biological activity nonunions may be effective evaluation method treatment decisions, especially necessity autologous grafting.

Hypertrophic Nonunion Humerus Mimicking an Enchondroma

Introduction. Although fractures of humeral shaft show excellent results with conservative management, nonunion does occur. Case Report. We bring forth the case of a young male with a 1.5-year-old hypertrophic nonunion of the humerus mimicking an enchondroma. The initial X-ray images of the patient appeared to be an enchondroma, which only on further evaluation and histopathological analysis wa...

Quantitative single-photon emission computed tomography imaging.

Over the past decade, quantitation of cardiac single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) data, once limited to perfusion assessment, has been extended to global and regional function assessment for both the left and the right ventricle, as well as to measurement of additional cardiac parameters of diagnostic and prognostic interest. A number of commercially available quantitative algori...

Hypertrophic Pubic Ramus Nonunion: Does Conservative Treatment Helpful?

The treatment of pubic ramus nonunion is usually surgical. We report the successful healing of a hypertrophic nonunion of pubic ramus in a 46 year old active male patient who was treated conservatively with a lumbo-sacral corset. We believe that understanding the injury mechanics in pelvic injury is more important to employ a particular treatment method than to follow the conventional ways of t...

The role of autologous bone graft in surgical treatment of hypertrophic nonunion of midshaft clavicle fractures.

BACKGROUND This study was conducted to evaluate the results of treating hypertrophic nonunion of mid-shaft clavicle fracture with a limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP) without autologous cancellous bone graft. METHODS From 1995 to 2008, 51 cases of hypertrophic nonunion of mid-shaft clavicle fracture were managed with open reduction and internal fixation by LC-DCP without bone ...

Vascularized bone graft for scaphoid nonunion.

The management of recalcitrant nonunion of the scaphoid can be frustrating. Recent understanding of the vascular anatomy of the distal radius has helped in the management of these problems. Vascularized bone grafting for scaphoid nonunion has improved the union rates. Consequently, familiarity with this procedure is an important tool for any surgeon who treats scaphoid nonunion. Although there ...
